Learning mouse movement? (& speeding up pointer vertically)

I’m struggling to use the keyboard to control the mouse pointer (am new to UHK).
Any tips on how to make the transition / learn?

Part of the issue is my set-up. My pointer moves OK horizontally, but is frustratingly slow to move vertically (eg maybe 2 seconds to go from top of screen to bottom of screen), so when navigating around the page it becomes slow via the keyboard. I have set the speed to maximum in the Agent. Obviously I can hold the accelerate key down, but that feels wrong (to have to do it for any vertical pointer moves). Since the horizontal speed is OK, presumably I can also set the vertical speed to a useful value?

Thanks for any help!

That’s unusual that you’re getting a different vertical speed. It should be the same regardless of horizontal or vertical, with the only exception being diagonal which is why there’s a toggle for compensating.

I wish I could offer some concrete advice, in lieu of that here’s my past post with my config that I’ve been using since the start:

My guess would be that you have the Axis skew too high. Setting it above 1 will slow the vertical axis compared to the horizontal. I would suggest putting it back to 1, or maybe just a little bit lower. If that doesn’t fix it, then IDK what could be going wrong.

There are multiple ideas here that I can try. Will experiment and report back in a few days.

That was my assumption too, and reducing it does indeed help, but … then makes the horizontal too slow, so just shifts the problem.

My situation is complicated by the fact that I use a different monitor almost every day (I work in a co-working centre where every desk has a completely different external monitor, so depending on which one is free, I get a different configuration).

I will run some proper tests, starting with the main laptop screen and then with one single external display. Will record the results, and will raise a support ticket if I can’t fix it. Will report back here if the results are useful.

That sounds pretty dang annoying :expressionless:. Good luck!
