Hi, after updating my keyboard to firmware 12.3.5 I noticed the Dongle was not working, in that the keyboard stated it was connected to it but no keypresses worked.
I removed the Dongle connection from UHK Agent, and the following issue occurs:
Despite being removed from the connections list, whenever the Dongle is connected to any device at all (regardless of whether the keyboard is connected to the device via cable), the RHS keyboard will constantly flash in and out of the pairing process (the one where you have to put the numbers in). The LHS is also put into the pairing process but does not flash.
If connected to a device then UHK Agent will give the errors: Cannot write to hid device and [DeviceOperation] ValidatedUserConfig from eeprom error.
Effectively, the UHK is unfunctional whenever the Dongle is plugged in.
I have downgraded my keyboard back to 12.3.2 but am still facing the same issue.
Hi! I have fixed the issue. This was likely a problem with me updating the firmware to 12.3.5 without having the Dongle connected.
For anyone who runs into this issue the same way I did, I resolved it by:
Reverting keyboard firmware to previous version 12.3.2 which is the same version as the dongle.
Under ‘Configuration’ in UHK Agent, revert the configuration to a time in which the Dongle was still in the Connection List.
Reconnect the dongle to your computer. It should ask you to repair, but repairing should be unsuccessful.
Remove the dongle from your connections list and then try to re-pair.
Re-pairing should succeed.
After performing these steps my Dongle and UHK perform as previously, and I was able to update to 12.3.5 successfully since I remembered to put the Dongle in this time.
Aside from my user error, maybe the UX could be a bit improved? Maybe if the UHK agent sees that a keyboard has an existing Dongle connection, it gives a warning that the dongle should be updated as well?
Or perhaps if it detects a mismatching firmware with the Dongle and Keyboard, offers to update the firmware of the Dongle?
@kareltucek What’s your suggestion for avoiding this happening in the future? Agent could display the usual top yellow notification bar if the firmware version of the connected dongle is outdated.
