My UHK 80 finally arrived today. I installed low-profile switches and thin caps on all the F-keys and around the edges. I wanted those keys to be lower than the rest—and blank—since they aren’t as important.
It suits me fine to put all those F-keys on a layer, but the reason I got a UHK 80 instead of a 60 when I’m de-emphasizing most of the extra keys anyway is because the escape key and arrow cluster are non-negotiable for me.
I used Tecsee Low-Profile Switches, as recommended a couple other places in the forum. The keycaps were YMDK Gentleman Low-Profile Blank Keycaps. They fit great.
I was a little worried about the PrintScn button because it is supposedly 2.5U and the keycaps I ordered only came with 2.25U and 2.75U, but I found a couple in the pack that seem to fit anyway, so it ended well. If there’s extra space, I can’t tell.
