UHK 80 Down Arrow Key Catching on Palm Rest - Need Advice

Hello UHK community,

I’ve recently started using the UHK 80 and noticed an issue with the down arrow key that I’d like to get some feedback on.

Issue:
The bottom edge of the down arrow key is positioned extremely close to the top edge of the palm rest. This causes the following problem:

  • When pressing the down arrow key, it makes contact with the palm rest
  • Due to this contact, the key gets stuck and doesn’t spring back up properly

Here is a short video to show the issue (please open it in a new tab):

Current Situation:
The key physically touches/catches on the palm rest’s edge, affecting its normal operation. While I could potentially modify the key by trimming its bottom edge slightly, I’d prefer to get proper guidance before making any permanent changes.

Questions:

  1. Has anyone else experienced this issue with their UHK 80?
  2. What’s the recommended solution from UHK support?
  3. Would trimming the key be safe, or could this damage the keyboard?

I’d appreciate hearing from both other users who might have encountered this and from the UHK team about the best way to resolve this.

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!

Have you tried pulling off the rubber pad from the palm rest, and re-seating it? Perhaps you can gain a larger clearance in that corner. What you are showing is not happening with my UHK80.

Thank you for the great suggestion! It really did the trick and the problem is gone! I simply removed the rubber pad from the palm rest and re-seated it, which created enough clearance for the down arrow key to work properly. Now there’s no more contact between the key and the palm rest edge.
