I decided to try out swapping the clicky microswitches on my modules for Kailh 6mm x 6 mm x 7.3 mm silent switches. I believe these are the ones used in the Logitech MX Master 3S.
It went off without a hitch despite my sub-par desoldering skills. These two-pin switches work fine without any bodge wires. The key cluster switches were a drop-in replacement.
The trackpoint module was a little too tight, and depressed the switches when the enclosure was on. I slightly trimmed the nubs under the buttons to fix the issue.
These seem to work well for the modules, but the two microswitches by the spacebars are much larger. I haven’t looked to see if there are suitable replacements for those as of yet.
Here’s a video for you. They’re super quiet compared to the Omron microswitches in the keyboard. https://youtu.be/k4zywanctOs
These are Kailh CMI627301D60. They’re tactile and feel a bit dampened. I prefer the sharp tactility of a microswitch, but not in a shared office environment.
The switches feel a bit lighter than the ones in my Logitech MX Master 3S mouse. Based on this photo, Logitech is using another variant, but I believe Kailh makes them.
