First of all, I’m new to the forum. I ordered the UHK60 keyboard two days ago, and it’s scheduled to arrive in Madrid tomorrow. Amazing service!
In the meantime, I’m hard at work designing a Spanish keyboard layout and labeling all the keys. I’ll need two function layers—one to efficiently generate Markdown code, and another to serve as a calculator mode complete with cursor controls, numeric keypad, and so forth.
Continuing from my post yesterday, I’ll explain the functions and labels on the keys. The red layer (calc) activates the numeric keypad, with arrow keys conveniently placed on the left side, utilizing the native 7, 8, and 9 keys. This layer will be activated with the calc mode (in red), I would like to fix this layer with double tap.
What really frustrates me is having to give up the double-shot PBT keycaps, but I need the Spanish characters and key mapping. I’ve seen an additional set of Spanish keys on Amazon, and I’d be willing to give up the custom labels. The other option is to give up the key backlighting and place an order with Yuzukeycaps using the layout from the previous post.
Have you seen FK Custom?
It’s another keycap customization service from the same people at YUZU. You can customize a shine-through set there. Of course, if you go with backlit caps, you’ll only really illuminate the top half, so some of the lower custom legends won’t be as visible. I have a couple sets from FK Custom, and the legends are much more translucent than most double-shot caps.
