I am pretty happy with my uhkv2 and always said that i’d order another uhk if it’s wireless.
Fast forward to today and there’s the uhk 80 which basically does all i actually wished for but it is still using a staggered design. Are there any plans for a columnar design? I’d instantly order a uhk80 with columnar keys.
I’d instantly order a UHK60 or even UHK40 with columnar stagger design. I just started experimenting with an ErgoTravel keyboard and it feels pretty awesome. I’m missing UHK macros and mouse navigation modules, though!
We’ll release a columnar UHK, but it’ll take time. No ETA yet.
Count me in
If it’s something like the uhk80, wireless, columnar, just throw me onto the preorder list together with a riser.
When you choose for columnar stagger you will most likely not use the standard Enter, Backspace, Navigation cluster and so on. Also a symmetrical layout would not “fit” to the very non-symmetrical UHK80 key arrangement. And you will likely not want a riser for that as well, having two quite different angles for the left and right half. I think a UHK80 in columnar would not make much sense. If you mean only the wireless aspect of the UHK80, that is a different point of course.
I also wonder how many will want a columnar stagger UHK with or without a wrist rest. Some have pointed out they do not want a wrist rest – like myself as well.
I am pretty sure, there are people out there, like me who are searching for columnar layout. its only obvious that’s the next best thing could happen next with UHK. I am currently in market looking for such and got a few options, and TBH there a ton.
BUT, I am already settled with UHK 60 (sorry I didn’t like 80 as much). so it would make sense to stick for sanity of my brain and not switch to a newer keyboard layout, it’s a whole learning curve.
@mlac I know you mentioned this already about the columnar UHK release, but could you shed some light on the timeline, or at least the plan that we have in place, I am not looking for a deadline but something to hope for.
I’m sorry, but I don’t want to reveal any more information according to UHKv3 when is it expected to be planned? - #4 by mlac
