Metal Case for UHK v2 (or v3)

Hello everyone, hope you’re all doing great. The UHK v2 is such a fantastic keyboard, but I have some reservations regarding case quality, given how it is made of plastic. Are there any plans to offer a metal case for the v2? If not, please consider it! It will add a greater feeling of quality and heft.

If durability is the concern I can tell you from personal experience that this keyboard can take quite a beating. I’ve traveled multiple times with my UHK in a bag, including multiple flights across continents and have never had any issues with durability.

If you’re looking for a case, this one from Amazon has worked wonders:

I’m sorry, but we have no plans for a metal case because it’s not economically viable.

I grabbed one of those a while back as well. It’s pretty much perfect for the UHK.

Does it fit the UHK60 with or without a palm rest?

Just enough extra room so that a USB cable on the side keeps it snug. I also have the Riser60 attached under there.

This is perfect; thanks for the tip/link!

Forgot to mention that the trackpad module fits in there too.

I own the same case. 2 weeks ago I accidentally dropped it while lugging my stuff upstairs. Had it stacked on top of several boxes, it fell off and down the stairway, with my UHK inside. I was horrified, but big relief, no damage done. Both, the case and the UHK, proved to be resilient and well-built.

I’ve dropped my UHK onto a hard tiled floor :face_with_hand_over_mouth: and it’s was totally fine, no broken bits or issues. I think a metal case would be awesome, I love the cold metal feel on certain tech products. As for having a metal case I’m not sure if it would be that beneficial in protection, but I’m no expert. I believe the case is made from ABS? and doing a quick google on abs: ‘ABS plastic possesses excellent impact resistance due to the presence of butadiene in its chemical composition. Butadiene, an elastomer, gives the material an inherent ability to absorb and dissipate impact energy.’

Are you sure you want to risk broken tiles? :innocent:

(Sorry for accidentally editing your post .)

I kind of like the idea of a (more) metal keyboard, but the plastic is very strong. I can’t imagine needing a case, except to keep dust off.
