How to Import/Export UHK Configuration between macOS and Windows?

Hello,
I recently purchased a UHK and set it up on my Mac. Now, I’d like to export my configuration and transfer it to my Windows PC. However, I can’t seem to find an import button in the software. I’m wondering if there’s a way to manually access the configuration files and move them between systems. Does anyone know where these files are located or how to proceed with the import/export process?

Thanks in advance!

Also, you know you can just take your keyboard and connect it to the other computer, right? Or for instance configure all your uhks on one computer and then distribute them. (Just checking.)

I have a single keyboard and 2 computers, my keyboard is connected to my monitor which acts as a hub. When I plug my laptop into my screen, it retrieves everything that’s been plugged into it. Including the keyboard. So I want the same configuration on my 2 computers so I don’t have to spend my time fiddling between Windows and Apple keys.

The UHK will store the configuration on the keyboard. So it will keep the configuration no matter which PC or Mac is plugged into it.

You may need to switch keymap on the UHK (eg. using a key combination) to swap the Control/Command keys around depending on whether you are using it with Mac or PC. But you don’t need to export/import the configuration between computers, because the config is stored on the keyboard itself.

That’s great news, thank you. How do I make this switch? With a macro or a key association? I’m sorry, I’m new to this keyboard, there’s a lot to get used to at first.

You can create several keymaps (some of them come preloaded), and switch between them with a “Switch keymap” action. These are bound to keys by configuration:

For example, the default keymaps that come with the UHK use Fn+number to switch between keymaps.

One small annoyance is the color palette I’ve setup in the Agent for key lighting doesn’t migrate with the keyboard. I either have to import my config or setup the palette again.

To be clear I’m referring to the strip of available colors in the Agent software. It stores your selected colors locally rather than enumerating the keyboard to determine what colors are currently in use.

How about making right-clicking on the “Add new color to the palette” + icon trigger a mode that would add the color of the subsequent left-clicked key to the palette?

I don’t think that’s really necessary. You might save a couple of clicks by doing so, but I think the color picker is more than adequate…

Why doesn’t Agent just create its palette from current keymap’s colors when there is not too many of them (<10?).

I would expect that to be the default no-brainer implementation.

@kareltucek My concern is what to do if there are too many such colors.

Just use those that are used most (by count of keys).
