Help adjust key backlight colors

Hi guys,

The default “white” backlight color of the UHK is a bit blueish or cold white, which we are considering correcting on the firmware level. The preferred color is neutral white.

Use the following command in the $onInit macro to experiment and adjust 180:

set backlight.constantRgb.rgb 255 255 180

Considerations:

 • Use the original black PBT keycaps supplied with your UHK. Other keycaps affect the backlight differently.
 • Connect your UHK via USB. The lower the battery runs, the more brownish the backlight becomes, and we don’t want the color to be affected by a low battery.

Thanks for your help!

Is this the way to do it?

If so, what is this “180:” doing?

No, without the leading 180:

Are you guys interested in this? I’m wondering if anyone cares.

We expect a value in place of 180, which reflects neutral white the most closely.

I rarely use white LEDs, but I’ll try to see what value looks more neutral to me. Might take a couple days though, because I have to find my stock UHK caps in a huge pile of random caps.

My results are here.

(Please, provide your own values before reading other people’s responses.
This discourse feature is cool!
)

 • warm white: 255 192 32
 • neutral white: 255 255 96
 • cold white: 255 255 160

This was taken in the evening in a warm-lit room, and second day checked in daylight.
