For any reason (I had issues with frozen keyboard software and tried, to disconnect the battery) I lifted the palm rest of the left half of my UHK 80. It seemed, that it was fixed with glue. Since these days, this palm rest no longer fits properly but keeps coming loose at one corner or another. Is there a special trick to fix it properly?
The UHK 80 palm rest is not glued but pressure-fitted. Please try to tuck the little plastic tabs in around the edges. Apply even pressure across the entire edge to ensure all tabs are fully seated.
Thanks for the tip. In my case, the palm rest was actually glued on—you can see that clearly in the pictures. Unfortunately, your tip doesn’t help—the palm rest is just loosely attached and comes off very easily. I also can’t see any recesses where the nipples of the palm rest could get stuck. I’ve pressed all around it, in the middle, and everywhere else—it doesn’t help.
As it turns out, even though my colleagues didn’t initially glue the rubber palm rest, they now do. Please apply some silicone glue around the tabs of the rubber palm rests, and it should hold them in place. Feel free to let me know if you have further issues.
Thank you!
Does this one looks suitable?
Yes, this one looks good!
I assume this is recommended for everyone with the replacement palm rests? It seems to have taken you by surprise, so might I inquire the rational for the change?
Ultimately, we plan to eliminate the glue after refining the tooling for the palm rest, but this process can take a long time.
