Which "LEDs" are hurting battery life and causing buzzing?

Hi: I’m very tempted to buy the UHK80 (for use with bluetooth), but I’m concerned about battery life: I’ve been reading that the “LEDs” can bring the battery life down to as little as 1 day (and cause an annoying high-pitched buzzing noise): but it’s not clear to me which LEDs are being referenced: are we talking about the OLED screen? Or about backlighting? Or are there some status LEDs? I can live without any backlighting or status LEDs, but I’d like to be able to read the screen if possible. Can someone please clarify this point for me? And if possible: what is the expected battery life (between charges) with the “LEDs” at their minimum (or off)? Thanks!

I believe that the buzzing noise will be resolved in a revised hardware version. I suspect it may not be far off.
Lazlo has talked about it in a number of threads.

Regarding the battery life — I know Karel et al are working on improving it. Although it wasn’t that bad on my UHK80, and you can set auto timeouts and the like to switch off all LEDs after a period of non-use. Additionally you can bind macros to keys that will send the keyboard into deep, medium, or light sleep.

The buzzing comes from the left side, and the OLED screen is on the right. As far as I know the LEDs are not the cause of the buzzing. In fact when working exclusively in Bluetooth mode even with the LEDs full brightness there is no buzzing. I only ever encountered the buzzing when used wired between the halves and wired to the host.

About backlighting, esp. left half’s which has much smaller battery.

Since oled is on the right side it should not be a problem to leave it “always” on.

Regarding battery life, I don’t really know, but it should be weeks at the very least. No idea if it actually is weeks or months.

Thanks! So I could turn off the back lighting completely to maximize the battery life?

Suppose you could but they charge quickly and last a good while so you could set to as low visible level.

Yes.
